Success! My first electrical soldering attempt yields a DIY headphone/microphone (XLR) breakout cable for the iPhone, making it a portable audio recorder for dynamic mics. (Any idea why electret condenser mics don’t work? May have something to do with the iPhone not auto-detecting the signal.)
